• Salt Lake has many sites within the city that are completely empty. People begin to grow accustomed to the empty parcels by only focusing on their destination. The specific site for the Fluid Adagio competition was just that: an empty lot right next to the Capital Theater. It was always overlooked. However, once a patron slows down and forgets about the destination and focuses on the path they start to see things they had never noticed. I like to think of this process as Interactive Detail. I conveyed this concept through a 3-dimensional model with 546 nails that one can interact with by pushing them in and out of a central core. This helped derive the form for the competition installation. It is a ten foot tall wall that is one hundred feet long housing over 900 acrylic tubes. They will all be movable and interactive to the patrons. The interaction will be memorable. The space will be constantly changing through this interaction.
